Day 68

I just realized that I haven't written since Tuesday morning. It's 4:00 a.m. and I can't get back to sleep because of my husband's snoring!!

I'm struggling. For the most part I eat well, choose healthy foods for breakfast, lunch and supper. But I have been snacking a bit lately on cookies and those nasty halloween chocolates and barely exercising. But more than that is I know that I'm doing the bare minimum that I could be doing for the scale to go down. I mean the amount that I eat has definitely gone down and I am eating a lot healthier than I was before. But I still grab that treat when I feel like it and I have very little motivation to exercise. I know the scale could be moving down a lot faster if I would just get more serious about it. I have never been a perfectionist, I don't need to have things just so, I don't beat myself up about it, but I know I need to be harder on myself when I mess up so that I keep moving forward and don't get stuck where I'm at.

Day 64

Yesterday was pretty good. I finally sat down at the computer and did some much overdue bookkeeping that I had been avoiding since September. I took on another small business and have been a little nervous about it. There will probably only be a bit of work every few months but getting started is always hard. Now that it's done, I don't know what I was dreading, it wasn't so bad.

I stepped on the scale this morning and it was up 1 lb. I really need to get exercising again. I've really let that slip since I came back from my trip.

Day 63

I haven't been posting very much lately. Mostly because I've been spending a lot of time away from the computer. I have barely even checked email this past week. But I do know that when I don't record what I am eating every meal it gets a little easier to slack off in my goals. I haven't been doing too bad but I have noticed a few extra cookies going into my mouth. So today I will start again in tracking everything that I am eating.

I'm getting excited about Christmas. We aren't heading back to Ontario to spend the time with family but we have made a lot of great friends here and are looking forward to spending time with them this Christmas. I think this week the kids and I will put up the tree and get decorating. I put the Christmas lights up on Friday since it was 15 degrees out. I don't think those kinds of temperatures are going to be around much longer and I really don't want to be out there putting lights up when it's -15.

There's been a lot of exciting things going on around here. I would love to share them but I first have to figure out how to put them down on paper (or computer screen). I'm not a writer and getting my thoughts down isn't as easy as you would think it should be. But I'll try sometime soon.

Day 59

I've been a little busy lately. Paul got home on Sunday night and I've been tagging along with him ever since. He's taking some time off so I'm making the most of it. So I haven't had much time at the computer.

I weighed in this morning and was pleasantly surprised that I am down another pound. I wasn't really expecting it but glad it's still going down.

I'll check in again when I have a chance.

Day 55

Good day today. Went shopping with a neighbor lady. She often comes into town with me if she needs to do some shopping. So we got all her Christmas shopping done today. Wow, I haven't started my shopping and I don't even have a clue yet what to get for my kids for Christmas this year.

We had chinese for lunch and I just had a mandarin orange for supper. I'm saving room for some dessert tonight. Our church is putting on a movie/dessert night for the community. We're showing the movie "Fireproof". So I thought I would like to enjoy a bit of dessert tonight!

My friend Anne had an idea a while back to display her nativity sets and invite the community to come and see them. She has 100 sets, and her collection is still growing. So at the beginning of December her and I are going to set up her collection and my 3 sets plus anyone else who wants to display theirs. We'll have lots of Christmas lights and Christmas music playing, snacks and hot drinks. It will just be a time of wandering around looking at all the nativities and getting into the Christmas spirit. I can already smell the cinnamony hot apple cider. I just bought a gorgeous nativity set that we will have as a door prize. We are really looking forward to it. Here's the invitation if anyone wants to make the trek out to southern Saskatchewan.

Day 54 - Back Home

I made it home safely on Tuesday night. I had a great time in Germany with Paul.

By the way, Paul's camera was found that evening. Our waitress had found it at our table after we left so she tucked it away so that she could give it to us when she saw us next. We were sitting in the bar when she came in for her shift the next day and as soon as she saw us she came over with the camera. I was so relieved! The camera wasn't anything special but on it were Paul's pictures from this business trip that he needed.

It was nice to see Paul while he was working. It always amazes me when I sit in on his meetings and listen to him negotiate and work through problems. He is brilliant. Stubborn, but brilliant.

I did a lot of walking on this trip. There were probably 2 days that I walked a total of about 7 or 8 hours, each day! My legs were so tired by the end of the day! I weighed myself the morning after I got back and I was down 1 lb. Boy, it sure would be nice if the scale was moving faster. I guess I just need to be happy with a slow weight loss. As long as it comes off I'll be happy!

Day 48

Today was a little stressful. I realized this morning that I left Paul`s camera in the hotel bar last night. I checked with the front desk, the bar, the restaurant, no one had seen it and it hadn`t been brought to the frond desk. The camera isn`t that big a deal, it`s the fact that it`s Paul`s and has a lot of pictures from his last few weeks of working. I knew that the girl that worked the bar last night would be in around 4:00 and I thought she was my last chance of seeing it again. Paul and I were in the bar when she came in and as soon as she saw us she went in the back and brought out the camera. Phew!!!!!! So now I can relax! And not take it off of me again!

Eating has been quite easy. Breakfast has lots of good stuff to choose from. Lunch has been normally a sandwich on the street and the last 2 nights the hotel restaurant has had a buffet on. I choose just the soup and salad bar and oh my was it ever good. They had all kinds of different salads, and all vegetable, none pasta or potatoe.

Tomorrow I plan to do some shopping. I need to find some unique german gifts for our kids and I have the perfect thing in mind for Anne (she is watching our kids while we`re gone). Fun, fun, fun. I love that where our hotel is, everything is in walking distance to us or walking distance from the underground train. Lots of walking. We may do a tour of a castle somewhere near here with some other people that Paul knows. That should be neat.

Day 47

I am so glad that I came out to meet Paul in Germany. What a nice little getaway!

My eating has been pretty good and we have done a lot of walking and will do a lot more still. The hotel has a huge breakfast buffet with everything imaginable. They really like their breads, meat and cheese for breakfast. I started with fruit and yogurt, an egg and a tomato slice and thought I would stop there but I did cut myself a small slice of multigrain bread and a slice of ham. Tomorrow I'm going to try to stick with cereal, fruit and yogurt.

I did weigh myself the morning I left and I was down about 1 lb. That made my day!

Day 43

Today has started pretty good. I am just making plans for a little trip for myself so I probably won't be on here for the next week or so. It's not quite a little trip, I'm going to meet up with Paul in Germany for a week. But first I need to make arrangements for my kids. Thankfully I have good friends that are willing to help out. Hopefully it all works out and I will be on my way by Tuesday. I will still try to follow my plan, cereal for breakfast, salad or soup for lunch and normal supper but just less. We'll see what happens.
